BISP Offices New Holidays Announced For Eid ul Adha 2024

Due to the Eid ul Adha holidays, the Benazir Income Support Program offices will be closed for five days. Pakistani nationals will have a longer break during the celebration this year. According to the official 2024 holiday calendar, the Eid al Adha holidays are from June 17 to 19. However, since most government offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, the holiday period will effectively begin on June 15.

The federal government will modify the holiday calendar following the confirmation of Eid al Adha on June 18. The newly designated holidays will be formally announced in the days preceding Eid al Adha.

Holidays Expected Date for Eid ul Adha

Eid ul Adha is expected to be June 17, but the exact date will be confirmed after the Zilhajj moon is sighted. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) claims that:

  • Zilhajj will start on June 9 and Eid al Adha on June 18 if Zilqad lasts 30 days.

BISP Holiday Schedule for Eid al Adha

The Eid al Adha holidays are expected to span from June 17 to June 19. However, because of the weekend closure, many government offices, including BISP, will begin their holiday period on June 15. After consultations with PMD and other relevant departments, the final holiday schedule will be confirmed.

Significance of Eid ul Adha

Eid al Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two major Islamic festivals. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Muslims slaughter goats, lambs, and cows to commemorate this event, then share the meat with friends, relatives, and the less fortunate.
